Hamilton County ADAS Board (non-profit)

The Hamilton County Alcohol & Drug Addiction Services Board is a non-profit agency focused on supporting Greater Cincinnati alcohol, drug and gambling addiction prevention and treatment services. As part of its mission, the ADAS Board helps to fund 16 Hamilton County prevention and treatment agencies.

Challenge

Encumbered by a tight budget, the ADAS Board struggles annually to heighten awareness of the need for improved prevention and treatment services for those battling addiction. Obtaining coverage from the local Cincinnati media is a continuing challenge. Additionally, the ADAS Board must lead many publicity efforts for its funded agencies, which further impedes the Board’s progress. Equally important, the Board’s quarterly newsletter had fallen by the wayside.

Solution

Upon contracting with O’Keeffe Communications, Inc. (OCI) in early 2003, OCI resurrected the ADAS Board’s quarterly newsletter and established working relationships with all ADAS-funded agencies to enhance the Board’s publicity efforts and to ensure that content is available for each issue of the newsletter. Additionally, OCI initiated on-air interviews and guest columns with local radio, television and print media for all major events supported by the Board.

Results

OCI is completing its third year with the ADAS Board, and has been asked to manage the redesign of the Board’s website and to manage and write content for the Board’s Annual Report.
